This is something we do regularly in our classroom. This week, we have been counting with a focus on 2s, 5s, and 10s. We have introduced new vocabulary such as rows, groups of and pairs. Apart from chanting, we have identified the patterns as we count, making note of the odd and even numbers as well.

How can you support your child?

  • Make a game of finding things that are in 2s - (such as eyes, hands, legs), 5s (fingers, toes) or 10s.
  • Encourage them to make and verbalise equal groups or rows of things that they may have - fruit, pebbles, lollies.

We have been enjoying Nick Bland's books and this week, we used his books as a basis to make and describe our own monsters. We described the appearance (outside) and the traits (inside).

Kindergarten are keeping chicks with the objective of observing, measuring and recording their growth. We happened to be in the vicinity this morning as they went about this weekly routine and got some neat pictures.
